Mtorque Performance Day - May 31st - Thorney Motorsport – Milton Keynes
A lot of Mtorque members have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to cars, especially the M cars that we all love and own, and when we get together we tend to have a lot of fun talking about and showing off our cars. Well, it’s been a year since we had a MTorque Performance day at Thorney Motorsport so we thought we should have another.
John, from Thorney Motorsport who is one of the founding members of MTorque has kindly offered their premises to host our get together. Rather than just walking around looking and talking you’re also going to have the chance to find out how quick your car is on their rolling road, or look at some third party products that are available for your car from various companies, have a bite to eat and chat to fellow members about life, the universe and everything, and what’s more, Thorney have kindly offered to donate the cost of 15 Rolling Road places to the operating costs of MTorque, so you can find out what your M car is really capable of!
Since MTorque is a purely non commercial site and we like to avoid advertising on the site we feel that this is an ideal way to raise money to go towards to hosting and operating costs of MTorque and thanks to Thorney, something is given back to our members.
So, even if you are not interested in rolling roads, or third party products for your car, you can still come along to meet your fellow members and enjoy a bite to eat thanks to the hospitality of Thorney Motorsport and MTorque.
Best of all, you get to meet the people who you banter with day in day out on the site, so bring along your baseball bats (Joke!)
Some of the things available on the day.
Thorney Motorsport Rolling Road Dyno. (Limited to 15 cars, £50 per car, all proceeds going to MTorque) In addition they will have technicians on hand to answer questions on your car, investigate any little niggles you may have or give cars a good looking over all free of charge!
Miltek Miltek will be showing off their exhausts for the M5 and M3.
Superchips Superchips will be here to give advice and the options on chipping and mapping your M car.
KW KW will be giving advice on their Suspension upgrades.
Food & Internet Thorney Motorsport are laying on food and drinks and there is a nice warm reception with internet, TV etc for people to make use of.
Come along, ITS FREE! So come along and meet other members, watch grown men cry as they see their car is 80bhp down on power, and more importantly come along and support YOUR site.
Reserve your free place! To ensure that we cater for the correct number of people we need to know who is going to come on the day and how many cars as space is limited. We also need to know who wants to use the Dyno service as there are only a limited number of places. (Dyno is £50)
If you are interested in coming along or reserving a place on the Dyno then please visit this thread and add your name to the list, be quick though as places go quickly. (Only 15 places!)
If anybody would like to help out in other ways (eg food) then please let Darren know.
We all look forward to seeing you on the 31st. (As we make changes to the line up we will update this post)
Here's some pics from last year...

What do you mean it's only making 380bhp!!

Man of the Day, Thorney's Dad who spent all day cooking the food....

....only to be scoff by Toby

And just to prove everybody is invited...

BMW will launch two new products in Spring 2008 that will see the total number of models offered in the UK increase to 18 body styles and 231 variants.
Model / Price OTR BMW 120i ES Convertible / £24,055 BMW 120i SE Convertible / £25,205 BMW 125i SE Convertible / £26,195 BMW M3 Saloon / £49,210
The BMW 1 Series Convertible will go on sale in April 2008 and will initially be offered with two engines. The BMW 120i Convertible is powered by a Hams Hall-built 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit producing 170hp. Like all current 1 Series derivatives, the 1 Series Convertible uses EfficientDynamics technology to achieve impressive performance figures. The 120i goes from zero to 62mph in 8.4 seconds, but is also capable of returning 42.8mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 158g/km.
The BMW 125i Convertible is powered by a 2,996cc six-cylinder engine. The 218hp powerplant propels the 125i Convertible from zero to 62mph in 6.8 seconds. As the current range flagship the 125i Convertible still offers affordable and ‘green’ motoring on account of the 34.9mpg combined fuel consumption figure and 195g/km CO2 emissions output.
Catering for a very different BMW customer, the new BMW M3 Saloon goes on sale in March 2008. Powered by an award-winning 3,999cc V8 engine, the M3 Saloon is the second variant of the current 3 Series body style to be launched. Its 420hp engine powers the car from zero to 62mph in 4.9 seconds before going on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is 22.8mpg.
